CONSTRUCTION & MUNICIPAL CASTINGS East Jordan Iron Works construction & municipal castings can be found throughout cities all over the U.P. of Michigan. The construction & municipal castings are manufactured for light, medium, heavy and extra heavy duty designations. The most widely accepted criteria for highway traffic loading is AASHTO's "Standard Specifications for Highway Bridges" which define H-20 and HS-20 loading. All castings designated as heavy duty meet or exceed these loading criteria.   Construction Castings   TREE GRATES Durable, functional and architecturally appealing, these cast iron tree grates are necessary for healthy trees in various urban, campus, parks and indoor mall settings. Cast Iron Tree Grates provide more area for pedestrian activity while protecting developing trees and their root system. The slotted design allows for watering and drainage and in most cases are ADA compliant for pedestrian safety. The narrow slot of an ADA grate also prohibits litter from collecting in the tree well and minimizes the growth of weeds.   Tree Grates   DETECTABLE WARNING PLATES These plates are made from durable cast iron designed to withstand rigorous urban conditions. Cast iron is inherently resistant to corrosion from elements, lasting for many years without further maintenance.
